The Three Open Positions (August 2026 Call) 1. JPO in Political Affairs – Support to UN Reform — based in New York, USA, supporting UN development-system reform work. 2. JPO in Humanitarian Affairs — based in East Jerusalem, engaged in humanitarian coordination in the occupied Palestinian territory context. 3. JPO in UN System Coordination — based in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, supporting UN country-team coordination.

This is a salaried UN post, not a scholarship. Belgium fully funds the position on behalf of the selected candidate.
- UN contract at P-2 level with international staff status. Salary paid in US dollars on UN scales (P-2 base salary approximately USD 57,600–78,300 per year, plus post adjustment varying by duty station).
- Training and mentoring by senior UN staff throughout the assignment, including access to JPO programme learning events.
- Pension coverage: Belgium pays the pension/ONSS contribution.
- Contract renewability: initial 1-year contract, renewable up to a maximum of 3 years.
- Placement within a UN organization that maintains an active cooperation relationship with Belgian international development policy.
Eligibility Criteria
- Belgian citizenship: Most posts are reserved for Belgian nationals.
- Age: No older than 32 on 31 December 2026 (born on or after 1 January 1994).
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in development cooperation, political affairs, humanitarian action, or the vacancy's subject area.
- Very good knowledge of English and French.
- Mobility and willingness to serve at the advertised duty station for up to three years.
