King's College London is leading CDTnet, a groundbreaking new European doctoral network that will revolutionise cardiovascular care. The network will support the training of 15 PhD researchers in the development of cardiovascular Digital Twins. A Digital Twin is a highly sophisticated, personalised virtual representation of an individual patient's heart. By simulating the physical and physiological processes of the heart, these digital twins can help detect and assess risks earlier, improve diagnostic accuracy, and support the selection of the most effective, personalised treatment strategies. This project sits at the absolute forefront of computational medicine, bringing together leading universities, clinical institutions, and industry partners across Europe.
Research Themes & Objectives
The research within CDTnet is highly interdisciplinary, combining advanced computational modelling, fluid dynamics, and artificial intelligence to create accurate, predictive cardiac models. The objective is to move beyond generic treatments and enable truly personalised cardiology. By creating a digital twin of a patient's heart, clinicians can test the efficacy of different interventions in a virtual environment before applying them in the real world. This minimises risk and maximises the chances of successful patient outcomes.
Training & Development
As an MSCA-style doctoral network, CDTnet offers an exceptional, structured training programme. PhD researchers will receive comprehensive training in scientific communication, ensuring they can present complex computational concepts to diverse audiences. Eligibility & Requirements
