About the Scholarship

SUTD's PhD scholarship route supports research in technology, design and related disciplines. Scholarship funding is competitive and not guaranteed by admission. No IELTS needed if your degree was taught in English - an MOI letter waives SUTD's English test requirement.

Scholarship Selection

PhD admission and scholarship selection are separate decisions. The international PhD Fellowship rate quoted here is not the higher, separately selected President’s Graduate Fellowship rate.

English language requirements

SUTD waives its English test requirement (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 90) when the medium of instruction at your degree-awarding institution was English; an MOI letter from your university is accepted as proof. Applicants without English-medium degrees should plan to submit an IELTS or TOEFL score within two weeks of applying.
