Position Overview
The CVISS Lab (Computer Vision for Smart Structure Laboratory) and iNDT Laboratory at the University of Waterloo, Canada, are recruiting graduate researchers and postdocs for condition and safety assessment of infrastructure using non-destructive testing (NDT) combined with computer vision and AI.
Labs & Supervisors
- CVISS Lab (Dr. Chul Min Yeum): computer vision / deep learning for infrastructure inspection, UAV/drone-based inspection, image-based structural assessment.
- iNDT Laboratory (Dr. Giovanni Cascante): non-destructive testing and material characterization using ultrasonic/wave-based methods, GPR, geophysical and sensing techniques.
Research Focus
AI-enhanced NDT for structural health monitoring (SHM) of reinforced concrete and steel structures. Resilience of the built environment.
Requirements
Required:
- Undergraduate, MSc or PhD in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field (undergrad to direct-entry PhD route exists).
- Signal/image processing expertise, including AI/ML libraries.
