Project Overview
About the Position
Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) invites applications for a PhD position on dynamic space-time interfaces for high-speed terahertz (THz) beam control. The project develops dynamically modulated THz interfaces that can steer, shape and route terahertz beams at high speed, including nonreciprocal propagation effects that break the usual symmetry of wave transmission. The research targets emerging applications in ultrafast wireless communication, imaging and sensing where agile THz beam control is a key enabler.
The position is a salaried four-year doctoral appointment under the Dutch CAO-NU collective agreement, embedded in TU/e's photonics and electromagnetics research environment. The doctoral candidate will design and simulate modulated interface architectures, carry out THz experiments in well-equipped laboratories, and analyse performance against theoretical limits. The project combines fundamental electromagnetics with device engineering and offers close collaboration with colleagues in ultrafast optics and applied physics.
Candidate Profile
Applicants hold a master's degree in physics, electrical engineering or photonics, with strong foundations in electromagnetics and wave physics. Experience with THz technology, ultrafast optics, antenna design or numerical electromagnetic modelling is an advantage. Applications are submitted through TU/e's Varbi recruitment system with a CV, transcripts, references and a motivation letter describing the applicant's technical background and research interests.
