Basic Information - Full Title: PhD in Controlling Errors in Quantum Computers - Host Institution: Imperial College London - Department: Department of Computing - Supervisor: Dr Zhenyu Cai - Study Level: PhD - Start Date: 2026/27 - Funding Type: Fully Funded (fees + living expenses) - Application Deadline: 1 December 2026
Project Description This PhD project will focus on the single most pressing challenge in quantum computation: errors in these machines. The goal is to develop a "full-stack" approach to quantum error suppression, integrating strategies across all layers of the quantum computation stack.
In the application form, write "Controlling Errors in Quantum Computers" in the "Proposed Research Topic" field, and "Zhenyu Cai" in the "Proposed Research Supervisor" field. Early applications are encouraged.
