Project Overview
About the Position
Radboudumc, the university medical centre of Nijmegen, recruits a promotendus (doctoral candidate) for a project on shared decision-making about advanced therapies in Parkinson's disease. Advanced treatment options such as deep brain stimulation and infusion therapies bring life-changing decisions for patients and care teams, yet choosing the right therapy at the right moment is complex and highly personal. The doctoral project develops and evaluates a decision aid (keuzekaart) that supports structured conversations between patients, caregivers and clinicians, and studies how such shared decision-making can be implemented in routine care.
The position is a salaried four-year doctoral appointment under the Dutch CAO-NU collective agreement at Radboudumc. The doctoral candidate will work across the departments involved in Parkinson care, combining qualitative research with patients and professionals, development of the decision aid, and an implementation evaluation within clinical practice. Because the research involves patient-facing components in Dutch clinical settings, professional working proficiency in Dutch is expected.
Candidate Profile and Working Environment
Applicants hold a master's degree in medicine, health sciences or a related field, with an interest in implementation science, patient participation and neurodegenerative disease. Experience with qualitative research methods is an advantage. Radboudumc offers structured doctoral training within its research institutes, and the candidate will collaborate with neurologists, nurses, researchers and patient representatives in one of the Netherlands' leading Parkinson care and research environments.
