Project Overview
About the Position
UMCG offers a promoted physician-researcher (promovendus arts-onderzoeker) position combining clinical training interests with doctoral research in anaesthesiology and gynaecologic oncology. The project studies perioperative care questions in patients undergoing surgery for gynaecologic cancers, connecting anaesthesiology practice with oncological outcomes research.
The position is embedded in the UMCG's clinical research environment, with supervision from both the anaesthesiology and gynaecologic oncology teams. The doctoral candidate will design and run observational and interventional studies, work with perioperative registries and patient data, and publish in clinical journals while participating in departmental clinical activities appropriate to a physician-researcher track.
Candidate Profile
Applicants hold a medical degree (arts-examen) and have affinity with perioperative medicine, oncology and clinical research methods. The appointment is a salaried PhD track under the CAO-UMC collective agreement, with the usual Dutch doctoral salary progression and benefits. Because the project runs in Dutch clinical settings, command of the Dutch language at professional working level is expected for patient-facing components, and the university supports structured doctoral training through its Graduate School of Medical Sciences.
